The Doric String Quartet - 1st prize winners of the 2008 Osaka International String Quarter Competition - is fast emerging as one of the outstanding quartets of their generation. Now in its 10th season the Quartet regularly performs at most of the UK's leading chamber music venues as well as abroad in Europe and Asia. Recent performances include their debut at the Edinburgh International Festival (broadcast on BBC Radio 3), two concerts at Wigmore Hall including the world premiere of a work by Gordon Kerry for quartet and voice with Catherine Wyn-Rogers, and a tour of Indonesia. They will return to Wigmore Hall to give the closing concert of the 2007/8 season and will appear three times in the 2008/9 season including an evening recital in the hall's Haydn celebrations alongside such groups as the Arcanto, Hagen and Mosaiques Quartets. Future plans also include their Paris debut at the Auditorium du Louvre, concerts in Germany, Indonesia, Israel and Switzerland, and a performance of the Elgar Piano Quintet with Piers Lane. In 2006 the Doric Quartet was selected for representation by Young Concert Artists Trust (YCAT).
