Mal joined the army in '57 and states he 'took to it like a duck to water'. He served in the Royal Signals throughout the Middle East, North Africa, West Africa as well as three tours of Northern Ireland and many across the Mediterranean. After 18 years as a Regimental Sergeant Major he accepted a commission to Captain. Later, when serving as a Major Quartermaster, Mal was headhunted by National Breakdown to run their operation and could not refuse.Mal is one of the tour guides, which allows him to show off his passion for history. In the past he's conducted battlefield tours of the Somme, Ypres and Verdun.
