Whilst Michael has an English accent due to his education, Michael's roots are firmly planted in Welsh ancestry, he states; "perhaps that's why I love to sing!" Michael joined the army as a young boy of 15 and began his career as an engine fitter after which, he joined the military police. Michael's career has taken him all over the world as well as seeing him occupy the post of Sir Alec Douglas -Hume's bodyguard, in many countries. Later on Michael joined the Kent police as a crime scene officer but says he never really settled into civilian life. He has been a pensioner since 2007.
