Chelsea Pensioners Marjorie Cole and Bill Murdock were honoured to receive a very generous cheque to the sum of £45,000 from Knightsbridge School last month.

The money was raised by pupils, parents and teachers over the course of the year through a number of community fundraising events including: walks, runs, cake sales and film nights. Knightsbridge School and the Royal Hospital Chelsea have built up a close relationship over the years; with Chelsea Pensioners attending Knightsbridge School’s Remembrance service and the pupils reciprocating, with the school choir singing at the Royal Hospital.

Magoo Giles, Principal at Knightsbridge School said: “The Royal Hospital has been the main charity of Knightsbridge School since inception in 2006. The children at Knightsbridge School learn from Reception (4-5 year olds) to 'Give and Share' and one of the important areas is through community action and charity work. Knightsbridge School is proud to continue fundraising and supporting such an important symbol in the community and hopes to continue its wonderful relationship with The Royal Hospital in the years ahead.”

Sir Redmond Watt, Governor at the Royal Hospital Chelsea said: “I would like to offer my gratitude to Knightsbridge School for raising such an extraordinary amount for the Chelsea Pensioners and their historic home. It is wonderful to see the children of Knightsbridge School putting on community events in support of the Royal Hospital. I hope that our relationship continues into the future.”
