"From masquerade to warfare; an exploration into the changing face of the grounds at the Royal Hospital Chelsea" will run from Friday 9th March to Monday 12th March, and will be free to the public.
The grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea have hosted an eclectic mix of events over the course of the last three centuries. This exhibition will illustrate these with documentation and imagery from the Hospital archives to bring this previosuly unearthed history into fascinating focus.
John Rochester, Heritage Manager at the Royal Hospital , has said: "This exhibition will get behind the scenes of our historic site, explore seemingly simpler ages but ones that still had their share of intrigues, problems and social commentary. The Royal Hospital attracts major media coverage annually with the Chelsea Flower Show, but that is only a small part of its history that we are still uncovering, as work on enhancing the Hospital archives continues. Come along and see what you discover!"
