Gould Piano Trio
Shortlisted by the Royal Philharmonic Society in 2006 as one of the three most outstanding UK chamber groups, the Gould Piano Trio have established a reputation as one of the most exciting ensembles to emerge in recent years, enjoying a career that has taken them to major venues both in the UK and overseas. Chosen as the British Rising Stars for the 1998-9 season, the Trio performed in such prestigious venues as New York's Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Brussels Palais des Beaux-Arts, Birmingham Symphony Hall and major halls in Paris, Cologne, Athens and Vienna. Over the years Festival appearances have included Edinburgh, Cheltenham, City of London, Bath, Brighton, Spoleto and the BBC Proms, whilst overseas travels have taken them to New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan, South America and most European countries. The Gould Piano Trio have been the recipients of many national and international awards and as part of their commitment to extending the piano trio repertoire, the Goulds have commissioned works and performed many contemporary pieces. They enjoy coaching young ensembles and giving workshops in schools and are currently Resident Artists at the Royal Northern College of Music.
David Pyatt
Shortlisted for the 2008 Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist of the Year Award, David Pyatt became the youngest winner of the prestigious BBC Young Musician of the Year competition at the age of only 14. Following this success he has embarked on a solo career which has taken him throughout the United Kingdom, as well as to Europe, the USA, Canada and Japan. In the UK he has worked with many top orchestras and made his BBC Promenade debut in 1993. Since 1998 he has been Principal Horn of the London Symphony Orchestra, a position previously held by Barry Tuckwell. Recent concerto highlights with the LSO include Strauss Concerto No 2 under Antonio Pappano, the Britten Serenade with Daniel Harding and Ian Bostridge and Strauss Concerto No 1 under Bernard Haitink in London and Spain.
