Sainsbury’s Local supports the Chelsea Pensioners

1st October 2014

The Royal Hospital Chelsea, home of the Chelsea Pensioners, has been selected as charity of the year by Sainsbury’s Local’s Gatliff Road store.

Sainsbury’s Local staff will be holding events and fundraising in store to help support the Chelsea Pensioners, who are all former soldiers of the British Army.

James McCartney of Sainsbury’s Local Gatliff Road said: “We are very pleased to have elected the Royal Hospital Chelsea as our new Local Charity, and look forward to working together, and raising money for such a worthwhile cause.

“The Royal Hospital Chelsea and the Chelsea Pensioners are iconic in London and we are proud to be aiding the fantastic work they do.”

Kate Marsh, Fundraising Manager at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, said: “We are honoured to be chosen as Sainsbury’s Local’s charity of the year.  Some of the Chelsea Pensioners are frequent visitors to this Sainsbury’s branch, so we are delighted that we can work together to raise money for The Royal Hospital Chelsea.  We look forward to a successful year of fundraising together.”
