Become a Friend

We will be delighted to welcome you to our membership scheme. As a Friend of the Royal Hospital, you will enjoy a closer relationship with the Hospital and the Chelsea Pensioners, as well as opportunities to mix with other like-minded Members and take part in exclusive events and outings. The contributions you’ll make will not only bring you a host of benefits, they also provide vital income that we depend on to fund our work.

Membership starts from as little as £35 a year and every penny helps to care for the Chelsea Pensioners, who were prepared to sacrifice so much for our Nation.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Friends!

As a Friend you will enjoy exclusive invitations to key events in the Royal Hospital’s annual calendar and benefits including:

  • Five tickets to attend the traditional Governor's Review ceremony. Held in honour of King Charles II, founder of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, this unmissable military highlight is followed by a drinks reception in the Governor’s Marquee.
  • A subscription to Home Front magazine packed with fascinating articles about the Royal Hospital and its history, profiles of the Chelsea Pensioners and much more.
  • Privileged access to our events programme. Held exclusively for our supporters.

These range from lectures, music recitals and drinks parties to visits to historic houses and military sites, many of which are closed to the general public. Find out more. (link to members events page)

Join the Governor's Circle

Our Governor's Circle members play a key role in supporting our unique veteran community and safeguarding the exceptional care and comradeship the Royal Hospital offers for future generations of Chelsea Pensioners.

As a member you will enjoy closer involvement with the Royal Hospital and the wider military community, as well as exclusive access to our leadership and events programme.

Governor’s Circle members enjoy all the benefits of a regular Friends membership, but are also welcomed to three very special occasions in the Royal Hospital's calendar:

  • Our prestigious Founder's Day parade held each summer to commemorate King Charles II who established the Royal Hospital in 1692. The event is attended by a member of the Royal Family who inspects the Chelsea Pensioners and delivers a speech.
  • The world-famous Chelsea Flower Show. This sought-after invitation entitles the member to a reception and private view of this celebration of horticulture and highlight of the London social calendar.
  • Our exclusive annual Gala Dinner. A member and guest will dine in the Royal Hospital’s historic Great Hall alongside dignitaries and Chelsea Pensioners.

Join our Friends or Governor’s Circle online today and look forward to a host of exclusive benefits.
